Today, the Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) will host a special celebration marking 90 years in operation and its commitment to Fuelling Western Canada.
To mark the significant milestone, CRC is expected to welcome current and past employees, dignitaries, key stakeholders and community members on site for an official ceremony. The formal portion will feature a catered meal and remarks from FCL and CRC senior leaders, alongside other notable guests.
"Today is a day of celebration — a time to recognize and reflect on nine decades of CRC's proud and storied history of fuelling Western Canada," said Heather Ryan, FCL, CEO. "We’re proud that for 90 years, CRC has been a vital economic engine and a trusted fuel supplier to our network of local Co-ops. Today, we celebrate the role we've played, as we look forward to the next 90 years of fuelling everyday life for Western Canadians."
As part of the celebration, attendees will experience a visually engaging tribute to CRC’s legacy, including eye-catching signage and posterboards, a commemorative video and thoughtfully designed materials that honour the Refinery’s long and storied 90-year history.
“As we mark 90 years, we honour a remarkable journey — from humble beginnings to becoming one of Canada’s largest integrated refining and upgrading complexes,” said Jen Stiglitz, VP, Manufacturing, FCL. “Together, we’ve created a legacy built on the dedication of our people, the support of their families, and the strength of the communities we proudly serve across the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). This milestone is a testament to how far we’ve come — and the people who made it possible.”
With over 6 billion litres of fuel sold each year, CRC serves as a reliable and trusted fuel supplier for the CRS. Located on over 800 acres, the Refinery plays a critical role in producing 17 million litres of fuel products that are distributed each day to the CRS and its more than 650 communities across Western Canada. While recognized for its operational excellence, CRC is equally committed to being a socially responsible and engaged neighbour to the people and community where it operates.
CRC officially reached the milestone on May 28.
