Donna Smith of Stony Plain, AB was first elected to the FCL Board in 2020. She is one of the directors elected by District 1 which is comprised of 25 member co-ops in British Columbia and Alberta. Donna has primary responsibility for eight member co-ops.
Donna is Chair of the Human Resources and member of the Code of Conduct and Ethics Committee and is a Board representative to The Co-operators for the Alberta Region.
She was first elected to the Board of North Central Co-operative Association Ltd. in 2011, holding the positions of Vice President and Chairperson of the Governance Committee, as well as a Delegate to the Resolutions Committee.
Donna holds her Co-op Director.D Designation as well as her Prof.Dir Designation with the Professional Directors Institute. She is a graduate of McEwan’s Non-profit Management Program and the University of Alberta Local Government Administration program.
Her passion for the community aligns with co-operatives and the communities they serve. She currently serves on the Board of the Adult Learning and Literacy Association as Finance Manager and KidSport Parkland as the Grants Administrator. She is employed as a Finance and Human Resource Coordinator for a pediatric clinic.
Donna and her husband Don are proud parents of two daughters, two sons-in-laws and five grandchildren and enjoy an active role in their family’s lives.
