Valerie Pearson of Saskatoon SK was first elected to the Board of FCL in 2015. She is one of the directors elected by District 4 which is comprised of 36 member co-ops in Saskatchewan. Valerie has primary responsibility for 13 member co-ops.
As an FCL Director, Valerie is Chair of the Audit Committee.
Valerie was a member of the Saskatoon Co-op Board of Directors for 12 years, serving as the Board’s President for five years.
Valerie’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a Professional Agrologist, licensed through the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. Valerie received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Over the years, Valerie has taken many training courses and seminars and has completed the full complement of FCL governance courses. She received the Co-opD.D designation from the Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives through the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. She obtained her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors (Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto).
Valerie is currently the Executive Director and Registrar of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. Her past work experience includes Provincial Manager for the Canadian Red Cross, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan 4-H Council, and Manager with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool.
For current professional and community involvement Valerie is Chair of the Alliance of Canadian Agrology Regulators. Past involvements include President of the Canadian 4-H Council, Prince Albert Regional Development Authority, Saskatchewan Triathlon, public representative on the Discipline Committee for the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association, Chair of the Agriculture Council of Saskatchewan and Professional Conduct Committee of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA), board member of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame, Prince Albert and Saskatchewan Chambers of Commerce, and member of the Discipline Committee (SIA).
Valerie and her husband Jamie reside in Saskatoon.
