Marc Girard of Moose Jaw, SK, was first elected to the FCL Board in 2022 to fill in a one-year vacancy in District 3. He was re-elected to serve a full 3-year term in 2023. He is one of three directors elected by District 3 which is comprised of 44 member co-ops. Marc has primary responsibility for sixteen member co-ops located in Southwest Saskatchewan.
As an FCL Director, Marc has been a member of the Human Resources Committee since 2022 and is now a member of the Governance committee as well.
Marc has extensive experience in committee work and municipal governance gained from his 35 years of Policing and 8 years serving the Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw as a councillor. Marc has completed the Director Development Program 1, 2 and 3 modules and has the Co-op Director.D designation. Marc has also completed the Indigenous Awareness for Co-op Leaders course through Co-operatives first.
Marc is also a recipient of the Medal of Bravery (Mb), Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal, Exemplary Service Medal, Saskatchewan Order of Merit and the City of Moose Jaw Order of Merit.
Marc and his wife Peggy enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren as well as residing on their farm just outside of Moose Jaw. Marc also enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
